In a small university classroom of just 30 students, Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef taught the inaugural seminar of AlMaghrib; the passion-project that sought to transform how we learn Islam today.
It was a simple idea;

For those that wanted access to in-depth knowledge, but couldn’t commit to studying Islam full time, and were tired of ill-prepared masjid talks, he wanted to create a third space for learning,

University style seminars, where for one weekend or two, the community could gather in one place, with a well-known and trusted scholar or teacher, and dive deep into knowledge relevant to them.

The idea was finally set in motion, and AlMaghrib was born.

Because Shaykh Muhammad was driven by the dream of a western sunrise, a new horizon for Muslims and the da’wah, and from that one class, the seed was finally planted.

The word got out, bright-eyed instructors joined the academic roster, and eager young volunteers set up their own AlMaghrib Qabeelahs (tribes) across cities in North America and Europe, with a thirst for knowledge and serving their communities.

And from that seed grew an international institute spread over 40 cities, numerous online platforms, and more than 300,000 students worldwide.

Millions of repentances, moments of clarity, new beginnings…

Many of those young instructors finding their feet in AlMaghrib are now household names on the speaker circuit;
