Qabeelat Wasat's history began in the summer of 2005 in West Lafayette, Indiana, when a group of brothers, some seeking knowledge, others looking for a reason to get away from home, attended the Light of Guidance, taught by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi. Two weekends later, lives were changed, and the yearning for mindblowing, high-quality experiences would not be sated until AlMaghrib made its first official appearance at the Rosemont Convention Center for the inaugural Ilmfest promotional event featuring AbdulBary Yahya, Yasir Qadhi, and the US return of Muhammad Alshareef.

Since then, Qabeelat Wasat went on to rock the AlMaghrib world with a record-shattering attendance of 225 students in its first AlMaghrib class, the Light of Guidance, again taught by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, shattering the previous opening record of 148 held by Qabeelat Majd. Wasat has also bested all rivals in official qabeelah competition, twice trouncing one-time great Qabeelat Hosna of Houston as well as besting former top Qabeelah Durbah of New Jersey fame.

Always a forward-looking tribe looking to raise its game to the next level, Wasat has set its sights on AlMaghrib Institute's top qabeelah, Majd, which represents Toronto, as its next target to overcome on its road to Ilm-spreading greatness.
